Participants Who Successfully Completed Courses

Thanks again, Steve. I really appreciate this opportunity. I don’t think I could have ever expected or imagined a course like this, and I’m really glad you set it up the way you did. Thank you!

Despite the circumstances that landed me in this course, I am truly glad that it did.  I thouroughly enjoyed taking this course and really did put the work in, paid close attention, took notes and I will apply everything that I learned to my own personal life from this day forward. I am so thankful that Mr.Sweeney is such a great therapist and counselor, and that he did not just base this course off and around only Driving responsibilities but other self help topics where he was able to provide us with some great deep insights in regards to transformations, perspective and mindset, how to utilize our mistakes/failures as productive failures.  He touched on some very indepth topics and provided assignments that required critical thinking and to really use our brains, to think outside of the box. The videos that were chosen for this course were perfect in my opinion and I have saved almost every single one that I plan to rewatch when necessary to remind myself, but also to share with nieces and nephews and those I love who are growing up so fast around me because I feel like there is great lessons in them.  Lessons I wish that I had heard before now, before a terrible choice and mistake led me to this point in my life.  I cannot thank you enough Mr. Sweeney for the knowledge and lessons that you provided me throughout this course, and I want you to know that you have changed my perspective on many things in life, my own personal life.  I look forward to taking everything I learned in your course and applying to my life from this moment forward.  Keep doing what you are doing Mr.Sweeney because you are definitely touching and changing the lives of others for the better.

Mr. Sweeney, truly I cannot tell you how this course has blown my expectations out of the water. I truly thought this was going to be a course that is surface level, and like getting my driver’s permit, going by the book. There is value to that of course, to know the laws of the road, but at the top of the course you reminded us that we didn’t get our ticket because we didn’t know the laws, it was something deeper, thus the reasons for the content of this course. Thank you for the time you put into this and sincerely, thank you the new perspective I now have in my life.

Taking the online driver responsibility class was somewhat of a surprise for me. I initially thought it would be a straightforward, maybe even boring, series of lectures on road safety and the importance of responsible driving. However, it turned out to be more like a mini-therapy session than anything else. The instructors encouraged self-reflection, asking us to think deeply about our driving habits and the reasons behind them. It wasn’t just about following traffic rules, but understanding the emotional and psychological triggers that might cause reckless behavior behind the wheel. For someone who’s never given much thought to their own mental state while driving, this was eye-opening.

Through various exercises, I started recognizing patterns in my behavior that went beyond just driving. For instance, I realized how stress and frustration from other parts of my life often made me more impatient on the road. The course also taught me relaxation techniques and strategies to stay focused and calm while driving, which have been surprisingly helpful in other areas of my life as well. I came out of the class not just as a more responsible driver, but with a deeper understanding of myself and the factors that influence my actions. It was an unexpected journey of self-discovery disguised as a driver safety course, and I’m genuinely grateful for the experience.”
Driving Responsibility Participant

I really got to sit down and think about a lot of the decisions I have made and still make at the moment. Good and bad (not illegally bad lol). Each answer I’ve had to type and video I’ve had to watch made me critically think like “I have done this” or “ wow I would’ve never thought this about myself”. If you think about it I really had an online therapist. I feel somewhat healed inside because I was able share my thoughts with someone who isn’t my friend or family. Being able to talk about some life experiences and my court case has taken a burden off my shoulder and I’m appreciative of this course honestly!

Although I didn’t enjoy that I had to take this course, I am glad I did. I know I made a mistake in getting into the situation I got into. It was embarrassing and a situation that surprised the people who know me. I try to learn from my mistakes and count my blessings. This course was a good reset for me and a chance to relearn a lot of great ways to approach life in general. I got into this situation because I was going through some difficult times and I feel like I needed this class. Steve’s course was actually very positive and motivating. I think we all sometimes need a bump in the right direction and Steve Sweeney does a really good job of calmly inspiring you to get on and stay on the right course.

Very interesting. Not what I was expecting. Reminded me of my days in the corporate world taking various problem solving and critical thinking courses. Well done. Thank you for the outstanding

Steve was a calm and positive voice throughout the exercises presented in this program. HIs personality shows through his work, he’s not just a talking head. I thought the information on distracted driving and road rage was eye opening and informative. I did not know South Carolina ranked so poorly when it came to driving. The images of crashes from the “Everybody Hurts” video will certainly stay in my mind for some time.
Traffic Education Participant

This was not an easy process to go through however, taking the transformative traffic education course has led to a variety of benefits: Eliminating the ticket and the 4 points on my license; Possibility of maintaining lower insurance rates by having the ticket dismissed; Provided me with valuable information and insight on how to become a safer, more aware driver; Knowledge that I have taken steps to address a bad situation I created have provided peace of mind and will help me avoid future incidents.

After all, From Chaos Comes Great Change! I have grown through what I have gone through – just as children learn what they live!

Thank you very much, Steve Sweeney, for transforming me into a much more aware driver! I will always be indebted to you for the valuable knowledge I have gained from your course. Congratulations on your transformation after your strokes! Best wishes to you as you move forward!”

Totally didn’t expect this course to make me emotional. Videos were helpful, in traffic education to my personal matters. Thank you Sweeny. You are great. Keep doing what you are doing. Now it’s my turn to ‘rock n roll

I must say I very much enjoyed this course and truly feel like I learned so much from it. I believe I got out more than I was seeking. I loved the deeper and thought provoking questions that warranted more complex answers. I thoroughly enjoyed the videos and found them and this course to be very insightful and do not regret taking it at all. Thank you Mr. Sweeney, I hope to stay in touch!

I had been blessed to hear a lot of this information and these ideas before, however your intense, rich package of conviction and encouragement was exactly what I needed in this time of my life. Not so much because of the ticket, but because of other things going on in my life. I will hold on to these lessons and take them seriously as I allow God to transform me into who He wants me to be through these experiences, failures and successes. God bless.

This course was extremely informative and encouraging for me. I no longer feel shame for my mistakes but feel empowered to rise above and make better decisions. I am thankful for Mr. Sweeney’s insight and his thoughtfulness. Some of the mistakes I have made can’t be reversed but the decision making invovled in it can be changed and overtime will improve my life in so many ways. I will do my best to focus on these new values I have learned and to avoid distracted driving, speeding, and other negative behaviors.

I had been procrastinating doing this course cause I thought it would be pointless or that I would be bored. I honestly did not mind completing the course and am happy that I did. I am walking away not only feeling better about driving but also about my mindset about life and how I look at things from here on out. Thanks Mr.Sweeney for this course!! : )

This course helped me to self-evaluate why I was in the position to receive a speeding ticket.  It has given me skills for how to cope with personal failures in order to grow from those struggles.  I plan to keep the information attained in this course in mind as I continue.  I know my speeding ticket is not the only hardship I will face in the future and I feel that Mr. Sweeney’s course has provided skills that will helpful as I continue in life.  I have become a more conscientious driver and do not wish to make the same mistake again.

This class has been absolutely life changing for me. An extremely difficult situation has now become just a wonderful lesson for me. I made a costly mistake on many levels but so what! I’m still here and still have an opportunity to make a better choice. Great job and THANK YOU!
Takeaways – Poor Choices Participant
The graphic illustration, “Grow through what you go through”, spoke to me more than the other illustrations. This course was not just about resolving a traffic ticket. It was about transformation! Upon reflecting back on the course, the reason I have been in this course, and life itself, transformation is inevitable. What’s important is… the direction in which we transform. I started Martial Arts at the age of 14. One of the lessons learned that mirrors this class is that of recovery from failure. One of my Martial Art Instructors impacted me greatly when he said, “Losing a fight is nothing to be ashamed of; not learning anything from the loss… now that is a whole different story!”. I’ve learned a great deal going through this course! THANK YOU!!!

This has been a great experience for me. I’ve learned and refreshed lessons in my life working through this course. This course needs to be taught in schools across the United States, very positive messages. There are many lessons in this course for everyone, young and old. I found myself sharing the material with other who were willing to keep an open mind and just listen. In the end Thay were appreciated of the information I shared with them, and they wanted to use it to speak with their children about it. Immensely well organized and useful information. We are responsible for ourselves and how we succeed. Challenges come to make us strong work harder to reach our goals in life. Put God first in everything.
Takeaways – Anger Management Participant

I feel very positive ultimately, I feel like this was a very in depth introspective type of model which I liked, I feel like coming out of this I feel much more positive and I feel not as shameful about my ticket but ready to take it as what it was, a lesson learned. I loved the layout and I think it went great!

Enjoyed the program very much.  Mr. Sweeney has been through a lot in his life and shared some of his life lessons and experiences during this presentation.  I will use this information to help me during my life’s journey.

I had an excellent experience with this course. It really touched a lot of things currently going on in my life and helped with my perspective on things. I really appreciate the time taken to put this together to help everyone and not just me.
It’ll help me in so many areas. Not just driving.

Takeaways TEP Participant
I thought that this course had a lot of insight in it. It put things into perspective for me that I’ve never really thought about. This course has helped me to think deeply about the bad choices I have made, and how they can help me grow and change. The videos within this course really ask good questions that can help us to learn more about ourselves and our true potential. There’s a lot of self reflection and self-evaluation, which really interested me because I was able to figure out some things in my life that I need to change and alternate and things in my life that are going good for me.
Takeaways – Poor Choices Participant
At first this was just a class i wanted to get over with, but as I kept going through the assignments and videos i learned a lot of valuables things I can use in the real world especially with critical thinking. This is class I would recommend to someone even if they didn’t have a charge.
Takeaways TEP Participant

First off I do want to say that I truly appreciate the love you have to teaching, spreading these life lessons out to people and showing them to not focus on hate/evil things in this world. And I could not have ever guessed you had a stroke and went through physical therapy, but I pray you get more than what you started with in this journey also! But I mainly took away that even when you are at your lowest that the only way to go, is up! And the sky is the limit when you don’t focus on what is behind you or holding you back, and to just keep bettering yourself though all life lessons and to make better and better goal for yourself. And also that I shouldn’t see myself as a bad person or in a bad image but just under a cloud in time, that we also get an umbrella (motives) and find a way to deflect the bad in our life’s and reflect all good from it!
Productive Failures Participant

First I’d want to summarize all the topics, and about how the class in itself has had an impact for the better on me. So during the videos and quiz sections I really took my time to analyze and understand the whole concept of the class. And it showed me that I was really in a part of my life where I should take hold on what I can and do the best with it. So I dove into the quizzes and answered far more than I would’ve during my school days or anything. But it also shows how with the right motivation/motives you can get a push in the right direction. During the Poor Choice section I soaked up everything about the cognitive errors which was never a big picture, if at all in my head. So while looking into and hearing about the Cognitive Errors I realized how they related to me more than I thought on many levels and opened my eyes up to seeing what I am/could be doing wrong in all aspects of my life. It also helped me on a different level as in helping me realize I not hopeless in times I’m down, but to always be looking for better goals and motives to get better for yourself. And during that journey you’ll be able to know how to maneuver life without getting in the mix with others and stumping your growth forward. Also don’t be stuck in the past soo much when there is far more future ahead than the past you could possibly remember! So I will look forward everyday, knowing that I can and will be better with the information and experience I’ve learned through today and life, and be able to use them to my advantage.

I thought this would be a waste of time at the beginning, but it was very informative and helped me reflect on some issues I am dealing with. So thank you Steve for taking time to put this together. I am sure I am not the only this helped.

“When I first began this course I couldn’t understand what it had to do with me running a traffic light. The more I got into the course I started to see why I made that poor choice that day. It helped me to understand myself better.”

“My overall experience has been enlightening in regards to the mistakes that I have made. I came into this believing that I was simply unlucky and was in “the wrong spot at the wrong time” and that I didn’t carry much responsibility for my actions. However, this course has showed me that I was very much at fault for what happened, and that it was completely avoidable had I sat down and reflected on the potential consequences of my actions. But what I enjoyed the most about the course was that it didn’t simply show me what my mistakes were, it built on that and taught me how I could use them as lessons and grow as a person. While I can’t say that this has been a “life changing” experience for me, it has certainly been instructive and opened my eyes to my potential for the future without repeating the mistakes of my past.”
— AEP Participant

“When I first started this course I honestly thought it was going to be boring. I must say it was really imperative and informative. Very interesting. I learned a-lot about myself. Learned to hold myself accountable, though I did that already. I can’t go off of others. I learned so much about cognitive errors. That was a big one for me. Reaching my capacity. So many great videos throughout this course. So many great life lessons. Not only for my charge but life in general. The attitude I came in with is surely not the attitude I left out with. I wanted to just get it over with. But towards the end I felt like man is it over already. Only if more people had these classes they could understand themselves more and have more grace and gratitude towards others. I am truly grateful for Mr. Swiny and his time and dedication. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“I am thankful for this course it was a great help. It was very informative about life and the statistics of driving. I would definitely take it again if I could. This definitely is a great thing that you are doing and I believe you are helping a lot of people out. You are a blessing.”

“I really enjoyed this class. I liked how it’s online and at your own pace. It makes it a lot more convenient. I also like how this isn’t your “typical” drivers class. This class is more personal and more “conductive”. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and would definitely recommend someone who got a ticket to look into the TEP program.”

“My charges led me to a good thing. Which is you Mr Steve and PTI very grateful and bless to get this opportunity to change my life around.and just be a better me all around glad I’m getting the opportunity to be back being in my daughter life and focusing on what matter and who should be around me dats good energy and vibes.when I caught my charges I thought everything was over with I was too busy in prison in my pass now I’m finally moving on slowly day by day.”
— PTI Participant

“I went into this thinking it would be a waste of time and just want it to be over with. It wasn’t, I found it quite useful, I haven’t really dove that deep about what happened and it felt good to write about it. I also found out things about me as a person that I didn’t realize before this. Overall I gained a lot from this course.”
— Poor Choices Participant

“I learned a lot of valuable things from this course. Not only has it taught me the importance of driving safely, but it has also taught me other valuable life skills that I can use in my life on a daily basis. This course has truly been transformative in shaping my mindset and habits. I find myself more patient and considerate, prioritizing safety and mindfulness in all aspects of life. I am more deliberate in my decision-making and take the time to understand the potential impact of my actions. This shift has not only made me a better driver but also a more thoughtful and responsible person overall. One specific life skill I learned from the course is effective time management. By planning my journeys more carefully and allowing extra time for unforeseen delays, I’ve reduced stress and enhanced my overall productivity which has kept me from speeding. This approach has spilled over into other areas of my life, helping me to better balance my personal and professional responsibilities.”
— TEP Participant

“I was blessed with the opportunity at a second chance, and your class has showed me the true value of that. I have gained a lot of insight into who I want to become through these lessons and videos. I think that some of these topics should be taught in school. Thank you for everything Mr Sweeney.”
— Course Participant

“The first thing that really stood out to me throughout this entire process which I really appreciated was that it never really felt like I was being punished, it felt more like I was being educated as it should be. I’ve learned not only a lot about legal statistics, but I’ve learned a lot of lessons about how to better myself. I would even go beyond and say that this is a course that should be required in the State of South Carolina to take, so that people are able to learn about why drinking underage is wrong and the consequences that come with it. Like I said this process was very educational to me and some small part of me is glad I learned what I did. The formatting of AEP could not be better, especially with the critical thinking videos that allow the audience to discover their own abstract lessons. While this process was long and required a lot of hard work, it makes the end feel so much more relieving.”

“I really enjoyed this online course. Not only am I learning about driving facts, but I’m also gaining insights into many aspects of my life. This course has helped me understand myself better and become tougher, accepting that mistakes are a part of life and don’t define its end. For example, if I were to give up easily in this course, it could signal a bigger problem for my future. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I now recognize my purpose: to love myself more and understand that failure can lead to success. It’s essential to think before acting and remember that we’re not alone in this world. Soar high like an eagle and spread your wings like a butterfly. Thank you so much for this opportunity. It has been fun and full of valuable.”

“I believe this entire course really helped open my perspective, not only on the incident I had happen, but my life in general. This course almost felt like a therapy session where I was able to explain things going on inside my head and letting it all out, similar to journaling. I feel this course got deeper into who I am, what I enjoy about myself, what I need to change, and how I can grow into the best version of myself. I have really learned much about alcohol, but also about life in general. I have learned to keep going and that my mistakes don’t define who I am. I have realized that the world keeps moving even through these hard times, which means I’ll be okay in the end. This course gave me hope that these tough times don’t last forever. I feel I have learned a lot about myself and the way I’m feeling and i’m very happy and pleased with that.”

“My experience was excellent because I learned a lot of different stuff I didn’t know and I will take this class again because Mr. Sweeney good good success course is the best course you can take.”

“This course was extremely eye opening and helpful to me. I have learned many different things about myself and the mistakes I have made. However two of the most important things that I learned throughout this entire course is to 1. Find my passions in life and work hard 2. Not to view my mistakes as problems, but as opportunities to grow as an individual. Throughout the course I learned that finding what you love in life and doing it to the best of your ability is vital to your success. I have also learned that mistakes are just a part of life and they should be seen as blessings in disguise and should help you grow. Overall I thought that this course was extremely helpful to me as an individual, and I hope that moving forward I can apply some of the things that I have learned to my life.”
— AEP Participant

“When I first started this class I was thinking to myself “there is no way this is driving class.” It felt more like a therapy session. But as I got deeper into the class, I started to realize that there are deeper reasons to why we do the things we do. It not more so that I was speeding, but what made me not follow the rules. I feel like since I started taking this class, I am more cautious on the road when driving. When I am driving long distance I put my car in cruise so that I don’t zone out and speed. I try not look at a person when I pass them because that is road rage. I am careful even when I try to turn the sound volume up because I do not want to take my eyes off the road. Taking this class has taught me that when you are better in the inside, your actions will reflect that on the outside. So understanding why we do the things we do, is the first step to doing better. I appreciate Steve Sweeney for this class and his teaching. I know it will definitely help me not just with following traffic rules but also with being a better me.”

“I am more than just a person that dealt with substance abuse. Recovery isn’t just meetings and steps, it’s a way of life and there are very important domains or topics that need to be focused on. Tonight was a refreshing perspective with very insightful information. Looking forward to seeing where this class will take me and the things I will learn that I can actually apply to my life.”
— D.F.

“Overall I had a great experience in this course. I learned a lot about myself, the mistakes I’ve made, and the consequences I have to face. I deeply regret my actions that led to me getting my charge and I feel like I have grown since then. Thank you Mr. Sweeney for everything you were amazing!”

“This course has helped me to see how my poor choices not only impact me but also my family, friends, and other loved ones. My poor choices could even impact people that I do not know and that could have negative consequences on people in my life and their loved ones. This course has provided me with motivation to make better decisions while also providing me with the tools to achieve that goal. I will utilize the lessons learned from this course to improve my life and not end up in the same situation that necessitated my taking this course.”
— Poor Choices Participant

“This is a really good course. I really like Steve’s presentation and I could understand him clearly.  I never would have guessed he had two strokes and could not speak only five years ago.  I believe this course applies to most people, not just those who are in the PTI program.  The discussion of the “holes” and “pitfalls” people fall into regularly was pertinent to me as I can see how my problem with Alcohol has led me to fall into so many holes in my life that I have constantly had to climb out of over the years.  I have finally come to a realization that this is such a difficult way to live.  It’s actually unmanageable.   My recent arrest has been a very difficult situation as I have had negative consequences on all of my major Life domains (Legal, Financial/Cash Flow, Relationships, Job/School, Emotional Health and Physical health).  The learning materials about Cognitive Distortions and Errors is also very helpful and it reinforces the importance of recognizing these common thought patterns.  This topic was also discussed regularly at the Blanchard Institute.  Thank you for the opportunity to take this course.”
— Poor Choices Participant
“Doing this course has taught me a lot about not only the decisions I make but also how to succeed in my life. Everyone always says to do what makes you happy in life, as happiness is more important than money; however, I never truly grasped that concept until completing these lessons. I learned that it is okay to not “fit in” to the expected career choices, decisions or actions that are considered successful or normal. It is important to focus on my career and my journey that feel best fitting for me and only me. Another takeaway I had was how there are consequences to mistakes big and small. It is important to think about my future before doing something illegal, regardless if everyone else is doing it. Little or large mistakes can alter the course of my future and I want to be able to make the career choices I want based off of my talents and passions, not a criminal or legal record. One final takeaway was how important it is to let go of the past. I have always been someone who dwells on things and this only holds me back from my future. I need to work on understanding that the past is unchangeable and is best to be left where it is.”

“This class was very good. It covered a broad range of topics. There were some that helped me even though I didn’t know going in that I needed help in those areas. All the statistical data was eye opening with accidents. Thanks!”
— TEP Participant
“Initially, I was confused about how this course was relating to my speeding ticket/driving, but as it continued and I was prompted to reflect and write more – I came to understand.  Life is a series of opportunities, we must make choices which yield results.  No circumstance is an exception to this rule, including my choice to not be aware of the speed limit.  I appreciate that this course highlighted that even a “negative” outcome is just a matter of perspective.  Every situation provides a chance to learn and grow as an individual.  I plan to apply the lessons from this course in all aspects of my life, not just driving.  So for that – I thank you.”
— A.K.
“This was an insightful platform for me to discuss the events of my accident, the aftermath, and how I have planned to learn and grow from the event. I now am better equipped as a driver and a human being to learn how to grow in the face of adversity. As promised, this course differed greatly from what I had expected it’d be, but it was a welcoming change and I am happy that I went through the experience.”

“This class was awesome. I learned so much. I’m not going to lie at first I thought this class isn’t for me but your ability to build and in include any situation is amazing. Keep up the good work, you changed my way of viewing things and helped me to move more aware of my decisions in life. Thank you and take care of yourself.”
— Poor Choices Participant
“I appreciated that the course did not focus on making me feel guilty (I have felt extremely guilty enough without extra help) but rather on ways to change my thinking. Although of course I didn’t want to get a ticket in the first place, I do think I needed this wakeup call and I am grateful that I have this chance, through this course, to make amends.”
— TEP Participant
“Overall, I really enjoyed this course. It wasn’t at all what I expected it to be, but I mean that in a good way. If I’m being completely honest, I kind of went into this expecting to be lectured on what I had done wrong, I suppose would’ve been fair enough, however it was more like an escape. Being able to sit and listen to Mr Sweeney and just embrace his positivity was truly encouraging and refreshing.”
